FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Google use the meta keywords tag for ranking?
No. Google has publicly confirmed it ignores the meta keywords tag for ranking, and has since 2009. We built this editor anyway because the tag still has narrow uses and a tidy keyword list is handy elsewhere.
So why use a meta keywords tag at all?
A few reasons: some internal site-search engines and non-Google platforms still read it, it documents target terms for your team, and a clean exported list is useful for ad platforms, CMS fields and keyword research.
How many keywords should I include?
If you use the tag, keep it short and relevant — a handful, not fifty. Stuffing it does nothing for Google and looks spammy on the platforms that do read it. We flag lists longer than 10.
Is it free and private?
Yes. No signup, no limits, and everything runs in your browser — your keywords and page text never leave your device.
