FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Does Google use the meta keywords tag for ranking?
- No. Google has publicly confirmed it ignores the meta keywords tag for ranking, and has since 2009. We built this editor anyway because the tag still has narrow uses and a tidy keyword list is handy elsewhere.
- So why use a meta keywords tag at all?
- A few reasons: some internal site-search engines and non-Google platforms still read it, it documents target terms for your team, and a clean exported list is useful for ad platforms, CMS fields and keyword research.
- How many keywords should I include?
- If you use the tag, keep it short and relevant — a handful, not fifty. Stuffing it does nothing for Google and looks spammy on the platforms that do read it. We flag lists longer than 10.
- Is it free and private?
- Yes. No signup, no limits, and everything runs in your browser — your keywords and page text never leave your device.
