Affiliate Disclosure

Today there are no affiliate links on this site. Every outbound link to a vendor is a plain nofollow link to that vendor’s own site, and we earn nothing when you click it. This page describes what will happen if that changes: if we join a program, those links will earn us a commission — at no extra cost to you — and they will be marked up as sponsored.

It will never affect our reviews

This is the important part: affiliate relationships will have no effect on scores or rankings. No paid-tool review is published yet; when one is, its score will come from hands-on testing against a fixed scoring sheet (see how we test). A tool with no affiliate program will be reviewed and ranked exactly like one that pays a generous commission. There is no pay-to-play.

How we mark links

When a link is a live affiliate link, we mark it up as rel="sponsored" so it’s transparent to you and to search engines. Where we have no affiliate relationship with a tool — which is the case for every vendor on the site right now — we link to the vendor’s site directly with rel="nofollow" and earn nothing from it.

Why we would use them

Affiliate commissions are the intended way to keep the free tools running without charging readers or selling placement. We’d rather be paid when we help you find the right tool than be paid by vendors to recommend theirs.
